Maples Group Recognised as Montreal Top Employer

The Maples Group is pleased to announce that is has been named one of Montreal’s Top Employers by the publisher of Canada’s Top 100 Employers list, MediaCorp Canada Inc. This recognition highlights employers in Greater Montreal that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Winners were chosen for their commitment to providing crucial support to employees with a focus on health benefits, time off policies and support for local communities. In addition to demonstrating flexibility and providing on-going support to its employees in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Group’s generous maternity and parental leave top-up payments, paid sick leave, and tuition subsidies were highlighted as reasons for selection.

Over the past five decades, the Group has expanded to become a preeminent international provider of legal, fiduciary and fund services with offices in 18 locations.  Its Montreal office opened in 2009 and since then has seen significant growth, more than tripling its headcount over the past five years and hiring more than 30% of its current complement of employees since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Montreal office offers career opportunities to professionals across a wide range of disciplines, including accounting, information technology, finance, human resources, marketing, and compliance.  In 2020, over 10,000 applications were received for 60 open positions. The Group also has a long legacy of prioritising diversity in the workplace and offering equal and open access to opportunities for advancement.  With 72% of employees born outside of Canada, hailing from 35 countries, the team in Montreal is reflective of the high-quality, multi-cultural talent pool the city offers.

In a year of unprecedented challenges, the Group has continued to set the standard for creating an environment for its people that enables professional effectiveness while fostering a culture that supports personal fulfilment.  In addition to quickly and successfully adapting its infrastructure for remote working, the Group has also sought to maximise its physical office space, which has been limited as a result of recent restrictions.  Adhering to local requirements and taking all health and safety measures into account, the Group has prioritised its use for activities best done in-person including new hire on-boarding, training sessions, and team collaboration.  The Group has also been able to evolve many of its employee engagement programs for a virtual environment.  At the same time, new initiatives have been introduced to ensure the team continues to feel connected, engaged and supported.  These include virtual town hall meetings and market updates, a work-from-home photo contest, gift drops, virtual team lunches and other social events.

“We are proud to be recognised as one of Montreal’s Top Employers. Our success here is a testament to our dedicated, exceptional staff who each play a role in creating an inclusive and supportive work environment and culture,” said Tyler Kim, Global Head of Fund Services for the Maples Group and head of the Montreal office.  “We are steadfast in our belief that when people can be who they are, they will be at their best, professionally and personally.  Our team is an example of what a modern workforce should look like and we remain as committed as ever to helping them to define their career paths, nurture their talent and ultimately realise their full potential with the Maples Group.”
