John is a partner in the Irish Funds & Investment Management team of the Maples Group’s Dublin office. He has extensive experience advising investment banks and asset managers on investment management, financial services and regulatory law (UCITS, AIMFD, SFDR etc). In particular he supports clients on the establishment, operation and ongoing maintenance of all types of investment fund structures and vehicles, including cross-border structures (e.g. Cayman, Ireland, Luxembourg). His practice covers both UCITS funds (including quant and structured) and AIFMD-compliant private funds, with a focus on private assets/private credit. He also advises AIFMs, UCITS management companies and investment firms on Irish legal and regulatory matters.
John advises clients on regulatory change and project management, and as an active senior participant in industry associations he regularly engage with Regulators and industry peers on strategic issues.
John joined the Maples Group in 2011 and was elected as a partner in 2016. He previously worked in the investment funds group of a leading Irish corporate law firm and trained in a top tier Dublin funds practice.
